so the news of the week has been all over the place, some i'll keep for a little longer, but one bit i can divulge is that my student visa application was rejected due to me being in canada already. this was of course after i called the immigration call centre and confirmed i could apply in canada as an athlete. oh, well. the letter they sent me was dated may 23, and it stated that i have to leave by may 16, interesting that. i am currently an illegal alien. whilst this doesn't excite me a great deal, as i have to pay $200 cdn to get my visitor status reinstated, or at least apply to get this to happen, it seems nothing is too definite here. damn that was a bad sentence, but it's too late for me to be going back and fixing it. i am not too concerned, it'll sort itself out. ( the visa, not the sentence)

also, i may be moving out of my room here in outer suburban arbour lake, after my stint at janos', but that remains to be confirmed. strange things are afoot at circle k.

no more time to explain, i am now going to sleep, i lead such an exciting life ;-)

more tomorrow on what's been on and going to be on this week, including a little request we sent for some funds from the international skating union. $$$
revised, or at least a new one for the present day...my high five songs to live by or listen to...

blink 182 - what's my age again? (for obvious reasons)
ash - shining light (i love songs with hooks, even more so with key changes near the end)
limblifter - ariel vs lotus (finally a good canadian band i found after i got here)
ladytron - (can't choose one track right now, can i get back to this blog?)
and wouldn't you know it, have run out of ideas...glad this list is ever changing, gives me a chance to add the last song later :-) this appears to be a recurring theme, the first high five i did on the blog was also imcomplete, oh well.

loving blink 182's new one, 'the rock show', but it ain't high five material...

this blog entry is dedicated to cd, been better days, hey.
so my 'friend' nathalie is heading over to north america to do some stuff, and it appears that she's been able to squeeze in some time to drop in on little ol' calgary. she arrives at an interesting time, as i am spending july and august house-sitting for my coach, janos. and i come back from a couple of weeks in lethbridge with the lamas to pick her up from the airport, so it's gonna be a busy few days, literally, as she arrives thursday night, and leave the following monday morning.

those readers in calgary, i would love for you to e-mail me with the calgary 'must-sees'. thinking, tower, cop, banff/canmore (sulphur mountain, hot springs, caves, lake louise/minnewanka, chinaman's peak maybe), stampede maybe as she'll be here for that and they don't have a lotta cowboys in sweden. any others?

boring blog this one, sorry...

can i just state now for the record that i will not be going through a mid life crisis. i have always wanted a red convertible sports car, and a young blonde girlfriend. am i forgetting anything from the sterotype? i will not have to wait until i reach a later age before i yearn for these materialistic things ;-)

you see i really am shallow...
i get very annoyed when the simplest technology confuses people, it's not that much of a challenge to set the vcr, or stop that timer from flashing 1200, or even using an oven that has a timer. what is it that bothers people, or even scares them??? surely the changes that they are forced to confront daily are no more of a challenge than the ones that i am now facing as i get further away from 22 (my eternal age).

it's funny, i now get frustrated with things that are not user friendly, or intuitive. is this from years of using the simplicity and elegance of the apple mac perhaps? i expect to be able to grab some new piece of techno gadgetry (as is my desire to frequently do), and be able to use it out of the box. palm based pocket pcs are an example of a straightforward simple tool. polar heart rate monitors seem to be simple at first, but when you want to some of the more complex functions, forget it.

does this all stem from man's desire to only refer to the manual if all else fails? rtfm
